Hola amigos! Today’s video recipe is not Mexican but it is an international one (maybe of Ayurvedic origions), that I think we should all know how to prepare.

(If you’re reading this through our newsletter please notice that the video will not display, please visit the website or our YouTube channel to watch the video.)

I’ve been fighting a yucky cold (thank you whoever gifted it to me 😩) and when I told my older sister about it she had just the thing I needed to feel better. My lovely sister quickly sent me the “magic potion” that her husband makes for their family when they’re ill. At this point it had already been a couple of days of a sore throat, wet cough, constant sneezing and a runny nose that wouldn’t stop leaking no matter what a took, I was so willing to try anything that I immediatly put myself (kind-of) together and ran to the corner market for the ingredients.

So I prepared the magical potion and down the hatch it went. Well, let me tell you that I swear within 10 minutes my nose stopped running and my cough settled. Now to be honest the ginger did burn my throat a bit as it went down, but that’s because ginger normally has that zestyness to it, and I added lots of it too. I took a drink of water and the slight burn in my throat subsided. BUT best of all after about 20 to 30 minutes later I wasn’t feeling so achy and yucky — in fact, I felt energized and my nose stop running and my head felt lighter and clearer. The energizing feeling and the no-runny-nose lasted for a few hours. Yay!

THIS REALLY IS A MAGIC POTION!!! It’s been a couple of days now that I’ve taken the ginger-turmeric shots 2 times a day and I’m feeling so much better, dare I say I’m nearly done with this cold. Now, I’m not saying this is going to cure you of everything, but it sure as hell will make you feel better and give your body some insane health benefits that ginger, turmeric and lemon all have to fight off colds and so many other ailements.

Watch the video below and then get the printable recipe underneath the video player — you’ll see that you need just 5 simple ingredients to get you on your way to feeling better in no time. 🙌

Ingredients

  • 60 grams or 2.11 oz peeled ginger root
  • 10 grams or .35 oz peeled turmeric root
  • one large lemon juiced
  • 3 Tablespoons of raw honey or good quality honey, adjust to taste
  • one to one and a half cups of filtered water
  • pinch ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until completely broken down. Strain any pulp if desired. Serve in a shot glass and take 2 times a day to fight off a cold, or 1 times a day for a general immunity boost. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.

Notes

● If you find ginger very spicy, then you may want to either add less ginger or more water to help ease it down. This recipe is easily customised to your own taste, so play around with the amounts and tweak it until it's perfect for you

● As an afterthought my sister also mentioned that adding black pepper to the drink will help your body absorb the turmeric better. I began adding it to the last couple of shots and it's not bad tasting at all.
