There is no good reason not to use a high quality UTF in front axles.

First Mobil 424 has a great reputation, I recently found a local supplier that has decent pricing and will likely switch to it in the future.
But my question is why many on here think gear oil in the front axle is necessary over the UTF almost universally recommended by manufacturers? If it is good enough to lubricate the transmission and rear end gears, why would it not be acceptable in a front axle which likely has less stress and likewise much simpler lubrication requirements?
I often see people saying use products which meet manufacturers spec but ignore their recommendation of UTF in the front axle in lieu of gear oil. I have used the UTF in my front axles just like what the manufacturer recommends with never a problem.
I'm not sure one is better than the other, I'm assuming one does what one has read or been told by a mechanic that they respect, in my case when I had the Kubota when I asked the tech he believed in using / and used gear oil, with the Kioti in the manual for my unit it states; Listed for Front axle oil: "SAE 90 gear oil or better, or same as transmission oil". I fell comfortable with a top line synthetic gear oil - just my choice.......

You'll find no actual evidence that UTF is any worse for wear in the front axle, only some folks feelings. Feelings have no place where facts are available, but I'm sure I have been hypocritical about this on more than one occasion, I try my best I guess. Regardless, you can find plenty of oil analysis information that will tell you most UTF fluid is fine for the front axle. If it isn't, it should not be used anywhere. UTF is certainly good enough for the tractors rear wheel gearing and entire transmission assembly, you can be quite certain it is good enough for the front axle.

I also got three 2.5 gal jugs of Mobilfluid 424 from Summit for my first change-out. GOOD LUCK with getting the HYD and HST factory filters off! (use a razor knife, carefully)

Changed my fluid and filters tonite. I have to admit I over reacted last winter when we had a lot of snow and bitter cold. I put in JD hygard low vis which worked well but ended up being too lite for our hot summers. Ended up putting in the regular Hy gard. So my fluid has been changed 3 times and both filters two times in 300hrs. I know...dumb on my part and a waste of money. I do tend to over think things??? I noticed a little metal flaking in the fluid that came out? I take it that is normal? The Mobil 424 seems to run very quiet.

I am currently running Shell Rotella HD Tractor Fluid (100 hours on it and it seems fine): I'd found it cross-referenced to the Mobil 424. It's readily available at Tractor Supply (right now they want $59.99/5 gallons).

I used the premium traveler from TSC and the hydro trans made a whining noise in the cold. I switched to 424 and it stopped.

I am a huge Mobil guy myself I use mobil in everything I own even my little push lawn mower lol. The only thing I don稚 have mobil in is my Hyd/trans of my kioti I am running Shell spirax S4 TXM only because that痴 what my dealer used from the start and i can get it easy and cheap. The Mobil 424 is so hard for me to find in my location but I am a huge believer of Mobil oils/lubricants!!!!

I use 90W in the front axle because that's what the Owner's Manual calls for.
I have Traveller Premium in the trans and get a lot of whine. I don't know that they're related, but if I knew for sure that it would quiet down with something else, I'd switch.
